The Geauga County Historical Society is pleased to announce the printing of its newest local history publication, Sketch of Fullertown and Its Early Settlers, by John Curtis. The book contains the recollections of John Curtis, a member of one of the pioneer families of Newbury, Ohio. This account originally appeared in a series of fifteen installments in The Geauga Republican, a Chardon newspaper, over the period from April 12, 1882 through August 16, 1882. The narrative provides many interesting, and sometimes curious, details relating to the earliest families of that settlement, giving many anecdotes as to the lives and wilderness experiences of these pioneers. The book may be purchased at the Society’s Crossroads Store, located on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton, Ohio. The cost is $16.00. The cost includes state sales tax.
The second printing of an earlier publication of The Autobiography of Eleazer Hickox by the Society are available. It is anticipated that additional local histories will continue to be added to this series as they are completed.
